Publisher and scope
Storytailor Inc. (Storytailor), Kansas, United States, provides Play That Back under its Creative Equipment brand. For support, choose Help → Contact Play That Back Support. Formal notices may be sent to support@storytailor.com. These terms cover Play That Back 1 for macOS, including every 1.x update. The purchase price is US$49 once, plus applicable taxes shown at checkout. There is no recurring Play That Back subscription. AI provider accounts and usage are separate and are not included.
License to use Play That Back
Subject to these terms and payment, Storytailor grants one individual a nonexclusive, nontransferable license to use Play That Back 1 on up to two personal Macs at a time, including for that individual’s commercial creative work. This is not a shared team license. Updates within version 1.x are included; future major versions may be sold separately. You may keep using the purchased major version subject to these terms and external-service availability. Activate using your license key. Keep it private and backed up. Settings → License lets you deactivate a Mac and release its slot. Online verification is required for purchase, activation, and periodic refresh. A verified activation can work offline for up to seven days; refunds, deactivations, or revocations may take until that period expires to affect an offline Mac. Disputes or a full refund may suspend or revoke the associated license.
Refunds
Request a refund within 14 days of purchase through Help → Contact Play That Back Support and include the purchase email or receipt reference. Approved refunds return through the original payment method, subject to payment-provider processing time. A full refund revokes the license. This policy does not limit mandatory consumer cancellation, refund, warranty, or other statutory rights.
Storytailor and its licensors reserve their rights in Play That Back’s original software, interface artwork and documentation. You may not sell, sublicense, publish, distribute or repackage the application or its source, remove proprietary notices, or circumvent its license checks. You may not decompile or reverse engineer proprietary components, except to the extent applicable law expressly permits the activity despite this restriction. Separately licensed third-party software remains governed by its own terms.
Media, comments and AI reviews
Play That Back is a research and creative-analysis tool for studying craft and style, comparing your own work with references you choose, and developing your own original work. It is not a service for unauthorized reposting. You must not use it to repost or redistribute content without authorization, impersonate creators, remove attribution to misrepresent ownership, or bypass access controls. Accepting these terms does not grant content rights or establish that a use is lawful. Play That Back does not download videos from Instagram, TikTok or YouTube. You can add video files you have, and you can play a post in the platform’s own embedded player inside the app and record it yourself, as you would make a screen recording. You decide what to record and the recording is saved on your Mac. Only add or record material you own or have permission to use this way, and follow the source service’s terms, including any limits on recording or reuse. Viewing a public post does not itself give permission to record, redistribute or submit it to an AI service. Respect access controls and applicable privacy, publicity, copyright and platform rights. You remain responsible for the rights in material you supply and the uses you make of videos, recordings, reference images, AI reviews, comparisons, colour looks (LUTs) and generated work. Obtain appropriate permission before sharing identifiable people’s information with a model provider. Play That Back gives you no rights in another person’s work or likeness. As between you and Storytailor, you retain your existing rights in your own content. You authorize the processing you request, including delivery to the AI provider you select. Provider terms govern that provider’s service and outputs. Review the results before relying on them or using them commercially. The app makes no promise of accuracy, originality, clearance, exclusivity, or a particular audience response.
External services
Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and the AI providers are independent services. Their embedded players may not play every post (for example private, age-restricted or embedding-disabled posts). Their availability, terms, pricing, model access and formats can change. You are responsible for the external accounts you choose to use and any charges you authorize there. Use a provider connection only if you are authorized to use that account.
Warranty and liability
Play That Back is supplied as available. To the extent permitted by applicable law, Storytailor disclaims implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and noninfringement. Keep backups of your work and verify outputs before publication. To the extent permitted by law, Storytailor will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, including lost profits caused by use of the app. For business users, aggregate liability arising from Play That Back is limited to the greater of US$100 or fees paid to Storytailor for Play That Back during the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. These limits do not apply to fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, or any liability, warranty, remedy or statutory right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Mandatory consumer protections continue to apply.
Third-party claims by business users
If you use Play That Back in a business capacity, you will indemnify Storytailor for damages finally awarded to a third party, reasonable defense costs, and settlements you approve, to the extent caused by your knowing unauthorized use of third-party content or your material breach of the media-permissions obligations above. This obligation excludes the portion caused by Storytailor’s own acts or omissions. Storytailor will give prompt notice, allow you to control the defense with qualified counsel, and reasonably cooperate at your expense. Delay in giving notice relieves you only to the extent it prejudices the defense. Neither party may agree to an admission, nonmonetary obligation or settlement binding the other without that party’s consent. This indemnity applies to business users only and remains subject to applicable law.
Ending use and applicable law
You may stop using Play That Back at any time. Storytailor may end the license for a material breach that remains uncured after reasonable notice, or suspend access as reasonably necessary to address ongoing unlawful use. Ending the license does not transfer ownership of your files. Obligations concerning ownership and claims arising during use survive as permitted by law. Kansas law governs to the extent permitted by law. Consumers retain mandatory protections and access to courts available under the law of their residence. An unenforceable provision does not invalidate the others. Material changes will be identified by version and presented for agreement where required.
